上の写真[しゃしん]が、先日[せんじつ]オークランドのラーメン屋[や]で見た美[うつ]しいものです。これ、何か分かりますか。これはお雛[ひな]さまです。3月3日は桃[もも]の節句[せっく]と言って、この日は女の子のお祭[まつ]り。白酒[しろざけ]というお酒[さけ]を飲んだり、お寿司[すし]を食べたりして、女の子の将来[しょうらい]の健[すこ]やかな成長[せいちょう]を祈[いの]ります。大人[おとな]の女の人もごちそうを食べてお祝[いわ]いします。お雛[ひな]さまは2月になったら飾[かざ]って、3月3日をすぎたらすぐにしまうことになっています。
このお雛[ひな]さまは特別[とくべつ]に立派[りっぱ]なものです。日本の家[いえ]の多くはとてもせまいので、このような大きなお雛[ひな]さまはなかなか飾[かざ]れません。ですので、もっと小さなバージョンがいろいろあります。以下の写真[しゃしん]は私が日本から持[も]ってきたもの。これはまたとても小さなバージョンですが、私のお気に入りです。
この週末[しゅうまつ]、オークランドに行く予定[よてい]がある人は、ビクトリア･ストリートのラーメン屋[や]さんに行って、この立派[りっぱ]なお雛[ひな]さまを是非[ぜひ]見てみてください。
The photo above is the beautiful things I saw at a Ramen restaurant in Auckland the other day. Do you know what it is? These are called Hina Dolls or Dolls of Girl’s Festival. Girl’s Festival is on 3 March and this is one of the Japanese traditional events. Families with girls have white sake, eat colourful sushi and so on and wish girls’ healthy growth on the day. Those families normally put Hina Dolls on display around the middle of February and put them back to a box immediately after 3 March.
The Hina dolls in the photo above are particularly gorgeous ones. As you might know, most houses in Japan are very small and they do not have a room big enough to display such a gorgeous set of Hina Dolls. So there are various versions of them. The photo below shows my own ones. This set is particularly small but I really like it.
