先日[せんじつ]美容院[びよういん]に行きました。そこは、美容師[びようし]さんが1人だけの小さな美容院[びよういん]で、私[わたし]が行った時はもう1人お客[きゃく]さんがいました。そのお客[きゃく]さんと美容師[びようし]さん、そして私の会話[かいわ]：
美容師[びようし]：私[わたし]ね、アルパカ飼[か]いたいのよねえ、でもテリー*が高いし、もしすぐに死んでしまったらとかって乗[の]り気[き]じゃないのよね。
私[わたし]：アルパカって世話[せわ]が大変[たいへん]なんですか。
美容師[びようし]：ううん、そんなに。羊[ひつじ]と一緒[いっしょ]よ。
お客[きゃく]：高[たか]いフェンスとか作[つく]らなくていいの?
美容師[びようし]：うん。鹿[しか]とかはね跳[はね]ねるから高[たか]いフェンスが必要[ひつよう]だけど、アルパカは跳[は]ねないから大丈夫[だいじょうぶ]よ。
いやあ、とてもニュージーランド的[てき]ですね!
*テリーというのはこの美容師[びようし]さんのご主人[しゅじん]のお名前[なまえ]です。
I went to a hairdresser the other day. It was a small place and had only one beautician. When I arrived there, there was another customer. The following is the conversation we three had:
Beautician: I want to have alpaca. But Terry* said it’s expensive, if it dies quickly and so on; He is not really convinced.
Me: Does alpaca require a lot of care?
Beautician: No, it’s like looking after sheep.
Another customer: Do you have to have high fence?
Beautician: No you don’t. You know, deer jumps so you need to have really high fence. But alpaca don’t do that, so you just need ordinary fence.
