郵便局[ゆうびんきょく]からHeitiki切手[きって]のパンフレットが送[おく]られてきました。パンフレットを送[おく]ってきた封筒[ふうとう]にもHeitiki切手[きって]が貼[は]られて、そして消印[けしいん]もHeitikiのデザインです。
50cの切手[きって]に使[つか]われているHeitikiは1980年代アメリカで“Te Māori” という展示会[てんじかい]が行[おこな]われた時[とき]に重要[じゅうよう]な役割[やくわり]を果[は]たしたマオリ芸術[げいじゅつ]の1つだそうです。$2の切手[きって]に使[つか]われているHeitikiは(パンフレットの写真[しゃしん]の中[なか]に小さく写[うつ]っています)、鯨[くじら]の骨[ほね]で作[つく]られているそうです。パンフレットの表紙[ひょうし]に写[うつ]っている赤[あか]いHeitikiはコーリアンという人工[じんこう]の素材[そざい]で作[つく]られているそうです。この素材[そざい]は最近[さいきん]、台所[だいどころ]や洗面所[せんめんじょ]などに使[つか]われているそうです。面白[おもしろ]いですね。

A brochure of Heitiki stamps I wrote about the other day arrived – it was sent with a Heitiki stamp used on the envelope as well. And as you can see in the photo above, the postmark is also Heitiki design.
The Heitiki appeared on the 50 cent stamp played a significant part in an exhibition called “Te Māori” which was held in America in 1980s. The one used in the 2 dollar stamp (it appears small in the photo of the brochure above, whitish colour) was made of whalebone, which is really rare piece. The red one with blue eyes that appears on the front page of the brochure is made of corian – a manmade resinated material commonly used for kitchen worktops and bathroom vanities. Interesting.
