今は9月、ニュージーランドは春[はる]ですから、日本は秋[あき]－と考[かんが]えるところですが、日本はまだまだ暑[あつ]く、夏[なつ]のようなお天気[てんき]が続[つづ]いています。
It is September now. Spring has come here, in New Zealand, so probably it is Autumn in Japan – that’s what you might think, but actually it is still quite hot there.
日本の夏[なつ]はただ暑[あつ]いだけでなく、蒸[む]し暑[あつ]い (mushiatsui means humid; muggy) ので、過[す]ごしにくいです。冷[つめ]たいものを食[た]べたり飲[の]んだりしたくなります。私[わたし]が特[とく]に好[す]きなのは、飲[の]み物[もの]だったらアイスコーヒー。日本には缶[かん]コーヒーの自動[じどう]販売機[はんばいき] (jido, hambai, and ki mean automatic, sales, and machine respectively. So it all together means vending machine) がたくさんあるので、120円で冷[つめ]たいコーヒーがどこでも飲[の]めます。食[た]べ物[もの]は。。。また次[つぎ]の機会[きかい]にお話[はな]します!
Summer in Japan is not just hot but also humid and it is not so pleasant. People often eat and drink something cold. One of my favorite cold drink is iced coffee. You cannot find iced coffee in New Zealand and if I want it here now, I’ve got to make one myself. In Japan there are millions of vending machines everywhere and you can buy nice cold canned coffee just for 120yen. I miss them!
