Silver week in Japan

It is Silver week right now in Japan!

From Saturday, the 19th to today, the 23rd of September this year, these five days turn to consecutive public holidays in Japan. Saturday and Sunday are usual weekend, Monday the 21st was Respect for the aged day (that is why this holiday week is called Silver Week), Wednesday the 23rd is Autumnal equinox day. Since Tuesday the 22nd was sandwiched with two public holidays, this day also became a public holiday in due course. Naturally many people travel around during this week. But nothing lasts forever; they will have to go back to school or work tomorrow, massive traffic jam has been created since yesterday by people heading home.

The longest one is apparently 55 kilometers! If you access to the site of Asahi Shimbun Newspaper, you can see some photos of the traffic jam!
