モンブランを知[し]っていますか。もちろん、これは有名[ゆうめい]なフランスの山[やま]の名前[なまえ]ですが、日本[にほん]ではこれは栗[くり]のケーキの名前[なまえ]です。むかし、むかし、ある日本人がフランスの山[やま]、モンブランを見[み]て、このケーキの名前[なまえ]を考[かんが]えたそうです。上[うえ]の写真[しゃしん]はモンブランというケーキの写真[しゃしん]です。
日本人はとてもモンブラン(ケーキ)が好[す]きです。先日[せんじつ]、大阪[おおさか]のホテルで作[つく]られている大[おお]きなモンブラン(ケーキ)のニュースを読[よ]みました。これを作[つく]るために、栗[くり]を400個[こ]、卵[たまご]150個[こ]を使[つか]うそうです。この大[おお]きさで1,000人分[にんぶん]のケーキだそうです。作[つく]るのに4人で4時間[じかん]もかかります! このページにアクセスすると、そのケーキの写真[しゃしん]を見[み]ることができますよ。

Do you know Mont Blanc? Of course this is the name of the famous French mountain, but I am not talking about mountains here now. I am talking about chestnuts now, you know – so what is the relevance then?
Mont Blanc is the name of one of the most popular cakes in Japan. A long long time ago, a Japanese named his original cake made with chestnuts paste inspired by that beautiful French mountain. The photo above shows Mont Blanc (cake). I read a news the other day, which reported a big Mont Blanc served at a hotel in Osaka. You can see the photo of it on this page. This cake needs 400 chestnuts and 150 eggs! It takes 4 hours to make it with 4 people!
If you happen to go to Osaka sometime between now and the middle of November, please get there and have a look at the gigantic Mont Blanc!
