ニュージーランドの火山[かざん] (kazan is volcano)と言[い]えばルアペフ山[さん]ですよね。日本[にほん]にも火山[かざん]があるのを知[し]っていますか。
When it comes to volcano in New Zealand, we definitely immediately think of Mt Ruapehu. Did you know Japan had volcanoes too?
日本[にほん]には実[じつ]はとてもたくさん火山[かざん]があります。その中[なか]で一番[いちばん]有名[ゆうめい]なのが多分[たぶん]、鹿児島[かごしま]県[けん]にある桜島[さくらじま]。この火山[かざん]、先週[せんしゅう]の土曜日[どようび]にも噴火[ふんか]した(funka suru means to erupt) そうです。このサイトでその写真[しゃしん]が見[み]られます。
今[いま]地震[じしん]や津波[つなみ]など、世界中[せかいじゅう]で天災[てんさい] (tensai is natural calamity) が起[お]きていますね。
As a matter of fact, there are a lot of volcanoes in Japan. One of the most famous ones, I think, is Sakurajima located in Kagoshima prefecture. Sakurajima erupted last Saturday. If you are interested, you can see the photos on this site.
