松井選手、ヤッター! Well done, Matsui!

日本[にほん]やアメリカでは野球[やきゅう]がとても人気[にんき]があります。

昨日[きのう]、ニューヨークにあるヤンキーズが今年[ことし]のアメリカのワールドシリーズで勝[]ちました(katsu means to win)。そして! ヤンキーズの日本人[にほんじん]選手[せんしゅ]、松井[まつい]秀樹[ひでき]選手[せんしゅ]がMVP (= Most Valuable Player)を勝[]ち取[]りました。野球[やきゅう]の本場[ほんば]、アメリカでMVPをとったことはとても大[おお]きいです。日本中[にほんじゅう]はこれで今、沸[]き立[]っています! 松井[まつい]選手[せんしゅ]はここ数年[すうねん]、怪我[けが] (kega means injuries)で苦[くる]しんで(kurushimu means to suffer)いたので、私[わたし]たち日本人[にほんじん]はとても嬉[うれ]しくこのニュースを聞[]きました。日本語[にほんご]のニュースはこちら、英語[えいご]のニュースはこちらで見[]られます。
 
The New York Yankees won the Major League Baseball World Series this year yesterday. Aaaaaand! A Japanese player, named Hideki Matsui was named the Series MVP (= Most Valuable Player). To us, this is really a big deal as a Japanese player was recognised like this in U.S. where the centre of Baseball in the world! The Japanese nation is completely utterly overwhelmed by this wonderful news now. Particularly, all we knew that Matsui had been suffering from various injuries these years, we were delighted to hear this wonderful news.
