日本[にほん]の友[とも]だちから、新年[しんねん]のごあいさつのカードをもらいました。
I received a new year greeting card from a Japanese friend.
下[した]の写真[しゃしん]を見[み]るとわかるように、これは立体[りったい]カードです。楽[たの]しいですね。このカードはハロー･キティというキャラクターのカードです。この形[かたち] (= shape)は、羽子板[はごいた]と言[い]って、日本[にほん]の伝統的[でんとうてき] (= traditional)な遊[あそ]びに使[つか]う道具[どうぐ] (= tool; instrument)です。興味[きょうみ]がある人はインターネット検索[けんさく] (= search)で羽子板[はごいた]、羽根突[はねつ]きを調[しら]べてみてくださいね!
This card is a 3-D card! Isn’t it cool? As you might know, it is designed with a very popular character called “Hello Kitty”. The shape of this card represents a sort of bat called hagoita which we use to play the hanetsuki game; a Japanese traditional game for girls. We used to do this game in the new year time. 3D cards are really popular in Taiwan too, especially among little kids and high school students.
When I was back in Taiwan, at school we usually exchange these kind of cards around Xmas.
