ニュージーランドにとって、ラグビーは大切[たいせつ]なスポーツです。先週[せんしゅう]の土曜日[どようび]、とても大切[たいせつ]なラグビーの試合[しあい]がありました。それはオール･ブラックスvs. 南[みなみ]アフリカです。予想[よそう]通[とお]り(!)オール･ブラックスが40対[たい]7で南[みなみ]アフリカに勝[か]ちました!
Rugby is very important for New Zealand. We had an important rugby match last Saturday: All Blacks vs. South Africa. As we all expected (!), All Blacks won (40 – 7).
このような大切[たいせつ]な試合[しあい]がある時[とき]、ニュージーランドの人[ひと]たちはよく、パブに集[あつ]まってビールを飲[の]みながら試合[しあい]を見[み]ます。上[うえ]の写真[しゃしん]はオークランドにあるパブの様子[ようす]です。多[おお]くの人[ひと]たちが大[おお]きなスクリーンの前[まえ]に座[すわ]って、オール･ブラックスを応援[おうえん]しました。
来月[らいげつ]にはいよいよニュージーランドでラグビー･ワールド杯[はい] (RWC 2011)が始[はじ]まります! このイベントの公式[こうしき] (= official)サイトはここです。日本[にほん]のチームも参加[さんか]する予定[よてい]です。9月16日(金)には、私[わたし]の町[まち]、ハミルトンでオール･ブラックスvs. 日本[にほん]の試合[しあい]があるんです。いやあ、どっちを応援[おうえん]したらいいのか…。
When we have such an important match, people here often gather at a pub and watch the game together having beer. The above photo shows a pub located in Auckland – taken last Saturday night. As you can see, many people sat in front of a big screen watching the rugby.
As you might have heard, New Zealand will host RWC 2011 (Rugby World Cup 2011) this year. It will kick off on the 9th of September. Its official site is here. Japan will participate in this as well. A match between All Blacks vs. Japan will take place in my town, Hamilton on Friday the 16th of September. Which one should I support…
