先日[せんじつ] (= the other day)、NYで英語[えいご]と料理[りょうり]を勉強[べんきょう]している安藤[あんどう]さんの話[はなし]を書[か]きました。 料理[りょうり]のクラスが始[はじ]まったそうです。はじめの時間[じかん]、安藤[あんどう]さんはちょっとショックを受[う]けました。それは、料理[りょうり]学校[がっこう]では先生[せんせい]がゆっくり話[はな]してくれないから。英語[えいご]学校[がっこう]では、先生[せんせい]が学生[がくせい]のためにゆっくり話[はな]してくれます。でも、アメリカの料理[りょうり]学校[がっこう]は、学生[がくせい]が英語[えいご]が分[わ]かることが前提[ぜんてい] (= precondition)です。 で、安藤[あんどう]さんのエピソード。先生[せんせい]が「ファンガイ」についていろいろ話[はな]したそうです。ファンガイ、a fun guy??、料理[りょうり]のクラスなのに?? 分[わ]からないので隣[となり]の人[ひと]に聞[き]いてみると、「それは例[たと]えば(= for example)マッシュルームとか」と教[おし]えてくれました。そうです。A fun guyじゃなくてfungus 、きのこ(= mushroom)のことだったのです! 外国語[がいこくご]を勉強[べんきょう]していると、こういうことってよくありますよね! 安藤[あんどう]さんのエピソードが読[よ]みたい人[ひと]は、このサイトにアクセスしてください。 安藤[あんどう]さん、がんばってぇ~!!
