今日[きょう]の朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]に、警察犬[けいさつけん] (= a police dog)として働[はたら]く、トイプードルの記事[きじ] (= report)がありました。とってもかわいい犬[いぬ]です。
I found a report of toy poodles working for the police in Asahi Shimbun Newspaper today.
ふつう、警察犬[けいさつけん]と言[い]えば、ジャーマン･シェパードなどを思[おも]い出[だ]しますよね。でも、この2匹[ひき]のトイプードル、厳[きび]しい試験[しけん]を受[う]けました。そして、去年[きょねん]見事[みごと] (= successfully)警察犬[けいさつけん]として任命[にんめい]された(= to be appointed)のです。

We normally imagine German Sheppard or something when it comes to a police dog. These curly haired poodles have been appointed as a police dog since last year after passing very strict exams!
