みなさんはどこで、どんな昼[ひる]ご飯[はん]を食[た]べますか。日本人[にほんじん]は自分[じぶん]でお弁当[べんとう](bento; a box meal)を作[つく]って、それを食[た]べることがよくあります。小[ちい]さい子[こ]どもには、お父[とう]さんやお母[かあ]さんがお弁当[べんとう]を作[つく]ります。
What sort of lunch do you normally have? And where do you have it? Japanese people often prepare Obento by themselves and eat it wherever convenient. For children, mum and dad often prepare obento.
お父[とう]さんやお母[かあ]さんは、小[ちい]さい子[こ]どものために、かわいいデザインのお弁当[べんとう]を作[つく]ります。今日[きょう]、インターネットでこんなページを見[み]つけました。かわいいお弁当[べんとう]の写真[しゃしん]がたくさんあります。上[うえ]のくま(= bear)弁当[べんとう]や下[した]のペンギン(= penguin)弁当[べんとう]もこのページからコピーしました。
朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]のショッピングのページには、かわいいソーセージを作[つく]る道具[どうぐ](= tool; device)がありました。ビスケットの型[かた](= mould)みたいな道具[どうぐ]です。これを使[つか]うと、かわいいソーセージを作[つく]ることができます。こどもはきっと喜[よろこ]ぶでしょう。
こういうお弁当[べんとう]は、立派[りっぱ]な(= proper)日本[にほん]の文化[ぶんか]です。あ～、今[いま]、日本[にほん]文化[ぶんか]の勉強[べんきょう]がしたいなあ～(^^/)。

Mum and dad often create cute obento for their kids. I found this site on the Internet today; it shows many photos of cute obento! The photos in this post were copied from this site. You should look at it.
I also found a special device you could use to make cute obento in Asahi Shimbun Newspaper. It is like a biscuit mould and you can easily make cute sausage with this device. It is a bit hard to describe how it works, so please access to the page of Asahi Shimbun if you are interested (the captions there are all in Japanese but you can see some photos which explain everything!)
I believe that obento is a proper Japanese culture. I would like to learn such culture right now (in other words; I am hungry now…)
