春遠からじ4 Spring is coming…4

[とり]は花[はな]が咲[さ]いて、蜜[みつ](= nectar)を集[あつ]めるのに忙[いそが]しそうです。

写真[しゃしん]の鳥[とり]は、トゥイというニュージーランドの鳥[とり]です。胸[むね](= chest)についた丸[まる]くて白[しろ]いポンポン(= pompon)がかわいいでしょう?

Birds seem busy these days for gathering nectar from flowers. Can you see a black bird in the photo? That is Tui, a New Zealand native bird. Don’t you think that white pompon on its chest is cute?

    the photo looks so beautiful!
    there were a lot of chery blossom on Silverdale Road as well, about 2 or 3 weeks ago. it’s such a pity that the flowers are all gone now. Do you know if those cheery trees there are the same as the one commonly seen in Japan? I e-mailed a photo to a friend in Japan, but she said she wasn’t sure if she has seen this type of trees in the city she lives in?

    トレーシーさん、こんにちは。シルバーデール通りの木は、桜ではないと思います。あの木は桃だと思います。ハミルトンには、日本にある桜と同じ桜がいろいろあります。でも私は、ハミルトンで初めて八重桜(puff cherry?)を見ました。もちろん、日本にも八重桜はありますが、日本では一重の花(one layer petal)の桜がふつうだと思います。
