このYouTubeは、12月3日、日本[にほん]のテレビに出[で]ました。先日[せんじつ]起[お]きたトンネル事故[じこ]についてレポートしています。

みなさんもこちらのニュースで見[み]たかもしれません。先週末[せんしゅうまつ]、日本[にほん]でトンネル事故[じこ]がありました。山梨県[やまなしけん]にあるトンネルの天井[てんじょう](= ceiling)が、土曜日[どようび]の朝[あさ]8時ごろ突然[とつぜん](= suddenly)落[お]ちました。9人の方がなく亡[な]くなりました(= died)。これ以上[いじょう]の死者[ししゃ](= dead people)が出[で]なかったのは奇跡[きせき](= miracle)のように思[おも]います。それは、この事故[じこ]は、130メートルもの大[おお]きなコンクリートが天井[てんじょう]から落[お]ちたからです。
今[いま]も調査[ちょうさ](= invstigation)が続[つづ]いて(= to continue)います。今[いま]のところ、天井[てんじょう]を支[ささ]える(= to support)部品[ぶひん](= parts)の老朽化[ろうきゅうか](= aging)が原因[げんいん](= cause)だ、と考[かんが]えられています。この事故[じこ]のすこし前に、実[じつ]はトンネルの検査[けんさ](= examination)が行[おこな]われました。そのとき「異常[いじょう]なし(= no fault)」のレポートがあったそうです。
この事故[じこ]をふせぐ(= to prevent)ことはできなかったのでしょうか。。。
As you might have seen news here, there was a big accident occurred in a tunnel in Japan a few days ago. The ceiling of the tunnel located in Yamanashi Prefecture (a bit north of Tokyo) suddenly dropped around 8am last weekend. There were nice people claimed of their lives. I think this is miracle not to claim the lives of more people because about 130 meters of concrete plates from the ceiling dropped!
Obviously investigation is still going on, but apparently the accident was due to aging of some parts supporting the ceiling. Somebody actually went to the tunnel recently (before the accident!) to carry mandate checking and no faults were reported. We are all wondering if there were anything we could have done to prevent this disaster…
