福島県[ふくしまけん]南相馬市[みなみそうまし]は、地震[じしん] (= earthquake)、津波[つなみ]、そして福島[ふくしま]原発[げんぱつ] (= Nuclear Power Plant)の事故[じこ]の被害[ひがい] (= damage)から復興[ふっこう] (= recovery)しつつあります。人々[ひとびと]の生活[せいかつ]は大変[たいへん]です。特[とく]に農業[のうぎょう] (= agriculture)の人[ひと]たちは本当[ほんとう]に大変[たいへん]です。それは、多[おお]くの人[ひと]が福島県[ふくしまけん]で育[そだ]った野菜[やさい]は汚染[おせん]されている(= to be radiated)かもしれないと、怖[こわ]がって(= to be scared)いるからです。
昨日[きのう]、福島県[ふくしまけん]で、南相馬[みなみそうま]ソーラー・アグリパークという体験[たいけん]学習[がくしゅう] (= learning)施設[しせつ] (= institute)がオープンしました。この中[なか]には、ドーム型[がた]の野菜[やさい]工場[こうじょう] (= factory)があります。ここで効率[こうりつ]よく(= efficiently)レタスを育[そだ]てるための工夫[くふう] (= device)があります。それは、ドームの真[ま]ん中[なか] (= centre; middle)でレタスを育[そだ]て始[はじ]めて、大[おお]きくなったらドームの外側[そとがわ]へ移動[いどう]する(= to shift)のだそうです。どうやって移動[いどう]するのかわかりませんが、スペースを有効[ゆうこう]に(= efficiently)使[つか]うとても素[す]晴[ば]らしいアイディアです。

Minami soma-city, Fukushima Prefecture has been recovering from the damages caused by the earthquake, Tsunami, and the Fukushima NPP incidents. It has been tough on people in the area, particularly, people in the agricultural industry (because the general public is scared to buy (possibly) radiated vegetables grown in the area).
Yesterday, a new agricultural learning centre named Minami soma Solar Agri-Park opened. This centre has a dome-shaped vege-growing factory. To create the optimal efficiency, the lettuces in the factory start growing in the centre of the dome; they are then shifted close to the outer areas in the dome according to their growth. I have no idea how they shift lettuces but it makes sense to use land efficiently!
