Merry Xmas and Happy New Year 2

みなさん、楽[たの]しいクリスマスを過[す]ごしたことを祈[いの]っています。今年[ことし]のクリスマス、ハミルトンはよいお天気[てんき]でした。ここ数年[すうねん](= these years)、いつも雨[あめ]のクリスマスだったので、多[おお]くの人がびっくりしていると思[おも]います。 どうぞ、元気[げんき]に楽[たの]しい年末[ねんまつ]年始[ねんし]のお休[やす]みをお過[す]ごしください。 I hope you had a good Christmas. We had good weather and I presume it surprised (and pleased!) many people as we always had a wet Christmas these years. Happy safe holiday!

ニュージーランドにもやっと夏[なつ]が来[き]ました。今日[きょう]のハミルトンの最高[さいこう]気温[きおん](= highest)は、24度[ど]だそうです。日本[にほん]はたくさん雪[ゆき]が降[ふ]ってとても寒[さむ]そうです。 Summer has finally come to New Zealand. Today's high in Hamilton will be around 24 degrees. Japan, however, seems very cold with a lot of snow right now.

Too much salt!

厚生労働省[こうせいろうどうしょう](= Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare)の調査[ちょうさ] (= investigation)によると、日本人[にほんじん]は1日平均[へいきん] (= average)13gの塩分[えんぶん] (= salt)をとっているそうです。朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]で読[よ]みました。 Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare presented the findings of their investigation on salt-intake of Japanese people. I read about this in Asahi Shimbun Newspaper today.
