ニュージーランドも少[すこ]しずつ暑[あつ]くなってきました。暑[あつ]くなると、私[わたし]は冷[ひ]やし中華[ちゅうか]が食[た]べたくなります。
It is getting warmer here, in New Zealand. The warmer season makes me want hiyashi chuka.
冷[ひ]やし中華[ちゅうか](lit. cold Chinese noodle)は、冷[つめ]たいラーメンのことです。上[うえ]の写真[しゃしん]のように、野菜[やさい]や卵[たまご]、ハムなどといっしょに食[た]べます。
これはハミルトン市内[しない]のスーパーで買[か]いました。10年前[ねんまえ]は普通[ふつう](= ordinary)のスーパーに、日本[にほん]の冷[ひ]やし中華[ちゅうか]は売[う]っていませんでした。今[いま]は、普通[ふつう]のスーパーで買[か]えるんですね。びっくりしました。そして、うれしくなってつい買[か]ってしまいました。
この商品[しょうひん](= product)の袋[ふくろ](= package)には、作[つく]り方[かた]が日本語[にほんご]と英語[えいご]で書[か]いてあります。この商品[しょうひん]にはソース(= sauce)がついています。だから、味[あじ]付[つ]け( = seasoning)の心配[しんぱい]をしなくていいです。私[わたし]はソースと、そして、からし(= mustard)をつけて食[た]べるのが好[す]きです。

Hiyashi chuka literally means cold Chinese noodle. As you can see in the above photo, we normally eat the noodle served cold with some veges, eggs, ham and so on.
I bought this in a supermarket in Hamilton. This was not possible 10 years ago… I was so surprised to see this at our local supermarket the other day and just bought it!!
The backside of the above packet shows how to prepare this hiyashi chuka with Japanese and English explanation. It comes with sauce and you do not have to worry about seasoning. The attached sauce is quite nice; I also like to add a bit of mustard to the noodle!
