I wrote a bit about cats in Japan before and mentioned that there were quite a few 'cat goods' in Japan. So what is the thing in the photo, do you think?
これは、しょうゆ注[さ]し(= soy sauce pot)なんです。日本の料理[りょうり]にはしょうゆが欠[か]かせません(= indispensable)。いろいろなしょうゆ注しがありますが、ねこの形[かたち]のものもあるというわけです。
かわいいですね。
This is a soy sauce-pot. As you know, soy sauce is indispensable for Japanese cuisine and we always have this on a dining table with meal. All sorts of shapes of pot are available and we have pots of cat's shape.
