今日、日本とニュージーランドでは、「史上[しじょう](= in the history)一番[いちばん]若[わか]い」人がメディアをにぎわせています(= making headlines)。
In Japan and New Zealand, the youngest in the history is one of the top news today.
日本では、14歳[さい]のプロ棋士[きし](= professional shogi player)、藤井[ふじい]聡太[そうた]さんが、プロの将棋[しょうぎ]の対局[たいきょく](= a game)で続[つづ]けて(= continuously)29回[かい]勝[か]ちました。これはこれまでの将棋[しょうぎ]の歴史[れきし](= history)で一番多い記録[きろく](= record)です。ニュージーランドでは、26歳のピーター・バーリングさんが操舵手[そうだしゅ](= helmsman)のニュージーランド・チームがアメリカズカップで勝[か]ちました。アメリカズカップは、ヨットの大会[たいかい]です。26歳の操舵手は、これまでの記録で一番若い操舵手です。アメリカズカップは日本チームも参加[さんか]しましたが、残念[ざんねん]ながら、決勝[けっしょう](= the final)には進[すす]めませんでした。

In Japan, Sota Fujii, a 14 yr old professional shogi player (note: shogi is often described as Japanese ches), managed to achieve 29 consecutive victories; Mr Fujii made this historical record yesterday. In New Zealand, the Team New Zealand, including Peter Burling, a 26 yr old helmsman, won the America's cup today. Mr Burling is the youngest winning helmsman in the America's Cup history. There was a team from Japan but they could not make it to the final race.

ところで、最近、幼児の知育玩具売り場に、将棋の簡単なゲームができる知育玩具が、各種取り揃えられて、すごく売れているらしいのです。笑誰しも考えることは一緒？笑

そうなんですか、そんなにすごいんですか。確かに記録自体もすごいですが、藤井さんのインタビューでの受け答えとか、14歳とは思えない落ち着きぶりですね。本もたくさん読んで語彙も豊富のようですし。藤井さんが食べたうどんだか何だかに注文が殺到してあっという間に売り切れた、というニュースを読みました。
