日本の電車は時間にとても正確[せいかく](= punctual)です。それを表[あらわ]すニュースを今朝[けさ]のラジオのニュースで聞きました。
Japanese trains are punctual. I heard news indicating their punctuality on the radio news here, in New Zealand, this morning,
千葉[ちば]県[けん]のある電車[でんしゃ]は、9時44分40秒に南流山[みなみながれやま]駅[えき]を出発[しゅっぱつ]予定[よてい](= scheduled to depart)でした。しかし、電車は9時44分20秒に出発してしまいました。そうです、20秒早すぎたんです。お客[きゃく]さんからの文句[もんく’](= complaint)はありませんでしたが、電車の会社は、お詫[わ]び(= apology)のメッセージを出しました。
これは、日本で時間の正確[せいかく]さ(= punctuality)がとても大切だということをよく表[あらわ]して(= to show)います。このニュースは、ニュージーランド・ヘラルド紙[し]にも出ています。読みたい人は、ここで読めます。
Apparently, a train running in Chiba prefecture, was scheduled to depart from Minami-Nagareyama station at 9.44.40, but it did at 9.44.20 a few days ago! Yes, it departed 20 seconds too early. So the train company has issued a statement of apology although they received no complaint!!
