Do you know what those are in the above photo? 上の写真[しゃしん]、何かわかりますか。

These are ANZAC biscuits; I baked them as it was ANZAC Day yesterday (25 April). ANZAC Day is very important here, in New Zealand and the commemoration ceremony was held across the country yesterday.

You can eat ANZAC biscuits anytime but the day strongly reminds us of all sorts of things including this biscuits. Japan has various types of food related to a particular event as well and I just thought this might be one of the reasons that I would like to bake ANZAC biscuits.

これはアンザックビスケットです。昨日、4月25日はアンザック・デーでした。この日はとても大切[たいせつ]な日で、昨日ニュージーランドでは、全国[ぜんこく](= all over the country)のあちこちで式典[しきてん](= commemoration ceremony)が行[おこな]われました(= was held)。アンザックビスケットはいつ食べてもいいですが、アンザック・デーになると特[とく]にこのビスケットを思い出します。日本でも、特別[とくべつ]な(= particular; specific)イベントと関係[かんけい]がある(= related to)食べ物がいろいろあります。私がアンザックビスケットを焼[や]きたくなる(= to want to bake)理由[りゆう](= reason)は日本文化[ぶんか]と関係があるかもしれない、と思いました。ちなみに(= by the way)、アンザックビスケットについて、このウェブサイトに日本語での説明[せつめい](= explanation)があります:https://nzlife.net/archives/7534。そして、アンザックビスケットの作り方が日本語のウェブサイトにもありました(例[たと]えばここです)。
