The above photo shows, needless to say, asparagus. The photo was taken at the Hamilton Farmers Market. Yes, it is the asparagus season right now! 言うまでもなく、上の写真[しゃしん](= photo)はアスパラガスの写真です。ハミルトン・ファーマーズ・マーケットで撮[と]りました。今、まさにアスパラガスが旬[しゅん](= season)です。
If you look at it very closely, you can see green ones and white ones. Until recently, we did not see white asparagus here (I might be wrong; but at least I was not aware of it). The green ones are still dominant in the market, but you can buy fresh white asparagus at certain places in New Zealand now. I do not think fresh white asparagus are readily available in Japan; tinned ones are available though…. 写真をよく見ると、緑色[みどりいろ](= green)のアスパラガスと白いアスパラガスがあるのがわかります。最近[さいきん](= recently)まで白いのは見かけませんでした。緑色のアスパラガスが主流[しゅりゅう](= main; dominant)ですが、最近では白いのも買えるようになりました。日本では、白いアスパラガスはあまり売っていないと思います。缶詰[かんづめ](= tinned food)ならありますけど。

ふふふ。白いのはなかなか調理が難しくて、いや難しいというよりも、よくわからないので、1回買っただけです。緑のはささっと茹でておいしい塩をふりかけてマヨネーズをちょこっとつけていただくのが好物です。おいしい〜♪
