The title of this post ‘Hara hachi bu’ is a Japanese proverb and the above article talks about the concept of ‘Hara hachi bu’ or ‘80% full of your stomach.’ Simply speaking, this proverb tells us that we should stop eating when we’re around 80% full. In other words, we should not eat until we’re really full. This is what Ekiken Kaibara, a botanist/pharmacologist in the 17th century, proposed. He gave us all sort of health-tips including ‘hara hachi bu’ in his famous book titled ‘Yojookun.’
