余震再び Aftershock again
クライストチャーチでは相[あい]変[か]わらず余震[よしん] (= aftershock)が続[つづ]いて(= to continue)います。日本[にほん]でも余震[よしん]が続[つづ]いているそうです。朝日新聞[あさひしんぶん]によると(= according to)、今朝[けさ]は、岩手[いわて]の近[ちか]くでマグニチュード6.7の地震[じしん]があったそうです。 Christchurch has still experienced big aftershocks – so has Japan… I read Asahi Shimbun Newspaper today reporting the area near Iwate was hit by the aftershock M6.7 this morning.

福島[ふくしま]原発[げんぱつ] (= Fukushima nuclear power plants)は、いまだいろいろ問題[もんだい]があります。それで、供給[きょうきゅう] (= supply)電力[でんりょく] (= electricity)がいつもより少[すく]ないです。今年[ことし]、日本[にほん]は夏[なつ]に節電[せつでん] (= saving energy)をしなければいけなさそうです。 Fukushima nuclear power plants still have so many problems and cannot supply electricity. Therefore people in Japan must strive for saving electricity!

日本[にほん]には原子力[げんしりょく]発電所[はつでんしょ] (= power plants)がたくさんあります(短[みじか]くして、原発[げんぱつ]と言[い]います)。浜岡[はまおか]原発[げんぱつ]はそのうちの1つです。静岡県[しずおかけん]御前崎市[おまえざきし]にあります。東京[とうきょう]から2時間[じかん]くらい離[はな]れている(= away)そうです。 Japan has many nuclear power plants. One of them is, as you know, Fukushima NPP. Another one is called Hamaoka NPP, which is located in Omaezaki-city, Shizuoka-prefecture (roughly 2 hour away from Tokyo).
