thin pickings again, I’m afraid

By the time you read this I’ll be on the way down to Palmerston North (to give a public lecture & a seminar & talk with students); all that travel & chat leaves little time for blogging, although if I get a bit of time between talks I’ll see if I can pull something together 🙂 Looking forward to being there but not to the getting there – the weather forecast is the pits & I suspect I will have to avoid the Desert Road. But there’s always the Brown Sugar Cafe in Taihape for a very pleasant break in the journey 🙂

If you go through Taumarunui, which might be a good idea given the state of the weather along Highway 1, there’s a really good cafe just south of the town, I think called the Stagga Inn. Not a promising name, but surprisingly pleasant inside, with excellent food.

I beat the bad weather across the Desert Road, coming down here, but may well have to take the alternative route on the way home tomorrow. So I could be staggering in to Stagga Inn. Mind you, Bosco’s at Te Kuiti is also worth a visit; we stop there all the time when going through to New Plymouth.
