今[いま]、ニュージーランドには大寒波[だいかんぱ] (= winter storm)が来[き]ています。ハミルトンもとても寒[さむ]いです。
The severe winter storm has hit New Zealand now. It is really really cold here, in Hamilton as well.
今日[きょう]のハミルトンの最高気温[さいこうきおん]は8度[ど]と予想[よそう]されて(= to be predicted)います。これは、この冬[ふゆ]でいちばん低[ひく]い最高気温[さいこうきおん]です。南島[みなみじま]ではたくさん雪[ゆき]が降[ふ]っています。ダニーデンの方[ほう]では多[おお]くの道路[どうろ] (= roads)が通行[つうこう]止[ど]め(road closure)になっているそうです。そして北島[きたじま]のウエリントンでも雪[ゆき]が降[ふ]ったそうですよ!
とても寒[さむ]い寒[さむ]いニュージーランドですが、春[はる]も少[すこ]しずつ近[ちか]づいています。上[うえ]の写真[しゃしん]は今朝[けさ]、大学[だいがく]に来[く]る途中[とちゅう]で撮[と]りました。
I heard that today’s highest in Hamilton is predicted 8 degrees. This is the lowest highest temperatures in this winter in Hamilton. There is a lot of snow in the South Island. For example, Dunedin is now completely utterly white and many roads are closed. It has snowed even in Wellington, you know, the capital city located in the North Island!!
It is very cold but Spring is certainly approaching. I took the above photo this morning on the way to the uni.

I hope it snows in Hamilton because I’ve never seen snowing before. My friend in Wellington said that she couldn’t drive to uni today because the roads are all covered with snow and she couldn’t even open the car door because it was too cold and was too icy.
