入学式 Entrance ceremony

4月です。日本では4月から新しい学年暦[がくねんれき](= academic year)が始まります。そして、4月にはいつも入学式[にゅうがくしき]があります。 ニュージーランドでは、子どもは5歳[さい]の誕生日[たんじょうび]の次[つぎ]の日から小学校に通[かよ]い始めます。日本の小学校は、みんな4月から通い始めるんです。どの子どももスタートは同じタイミングです。それで、4月のはじめには入学式があります。ニュージーランドには卒業式[そつぎょうしき]はありますが、入学式はありません。 また在校生[ざいこうせい](= current pupils)のために、日本では始業式[しぎょうしき]があります。これは毎[まい]学期[がっき](= each term)、はじめに(= at the beginning)全校[ぜんこう]の生徒(= all school pupils)が集[あつ]まって、式をします。 日本は式が好きみたいですね。 It is April now. Dolls festival today 今日はひな祭り

前に何度か書きましたが、今日は日本ではひな祭[まつ]りの日です。女の子がいる家では、今日、女の子たちの幸[しあわ]せを祈[いの]ってお祝[いわ]いします。 この日に向けて、2月から特別[とくべつ]な人形[にんぎょう](= dolls)を飾[かざ]ります(= to decorate; to put something out)。そして、明日、3月4日に全部しまいます(= put something away)。下の写真[しゃしん]はとてもゴージャスなひな人形です。ふつうの家ではこのような人形は飾れません。もっと小さい人形セットを飾ります。家がとてもせまいからです(もちろん、このような人形はとても高いので、なかなか買えません!) 今日は七夕 Tanabata today

今日は、日本では七夕[たなばた]です。七夕については前にも書きました。この日、日本では、短冊[たんざく](= a rectangular shaped piece of paper)に願[ねが]い(= wish)を書いて、笹[ささ](= bamboo)にかざります(= to decorate)。地域[ちいき](= region)によっては大きなお祭[まつ]りがあります。 日本の南部[なんぶ](= southern part)のひどいお天気[てんき]がよくなって、人々[ひとびと]の生活[せいかつ](= life)が早[はや]くふつうに戻[もど]ります(= to return)ように。 It is the day called tanabata in Japan today. ひな祭り Dolls Festival

今日は3月3日、ひな祭[まつり]りの日です。女の子のいる家庭[かてい](= household)では、特別[とくべつ]な人形[にんぎょう](おひなさま、と言います)を飾[かざ]り、女の子の幸[しあわ]せ(= happiness)や健康[けんこう](= good health)を祈[いの]ります(= to wish)。 下の写真[しゃしん]は、おひなさまです。ジャパン・デーというイベントでとりました。きれいでしょう! It is dolls festival today (3 March). Japanese households with daughters often put special dolls out wishing their happiness, good health and so on. The following photo shows a beautiful doll set. I took this photo at Japan Day. Isn't it beautiful!
