「豆腐[とうふ]は味[あじ]がない」「つまらない」とよく聞きます。 I have heard many times people saying ‘tofu is tasteless’ ‘tofu is boring’. 美味[おい]しい豆腐[とうふ]は本当に美味しくて、そのままで食べられます。でも、ほんとうに美味しい豆腐は、なかなか見つからないかもしれません。 普通[ふつう]の豆腐でも上手に料理すると、ほんとうに美味しくなります。先日美味しい豆腐団子[だんご](= tofu ball)に出会いました。ハミルトンにあるお店です。 Delicious tofu is absolutely delicious and you can enjoy it on its own. 日本のいろいろな柑橘類 Various types of citrus fruit in Japan

日本にはいろいろな柑橘類[かんきつるい](= citrus fruit)があります。下の写真は、金柑[きんかん]です。見てわかるように、とても小さい実[み](= fruit)です。面[おも]白[しろ]いことは、金柑は実[み]を皮[かわ]ごと(= including skin)全部[ぜんぶ](= all; whole)食べることです。甘[あま]くておいしいですよ。 There are quite a few types of citrus fruit in Japan. The following is called ‘kinkan’. As you can see, it is quite small. A unique thing about ‘kinkan’ is that we eat the whole fruit including its skin. It is nice and sweet!

柚子 Yuzu

柚子[ゆず]って知っていますか。Do you know ‘yuzu’? 柚子[ゆず]は柑橘類[かんきつるい](= citrus fruit)の1つで、日本ではよく使われます（下の写真[しゃしん]が柚子です）。以前[いぜん]、このブログでも書きました。ニュージーランドでも人気[にんき]があるようで、柚子[ゆず]風味[ふうみ]の(= flavoured)オリーブ油があります。おもしろいですね。 Yuzu is a type of citrus fruit and it is quite common in Japan (the following photo shows yuzu). I wrote about yuzu in this blog before. Yuzu seems popular in New Zealand and now you can buy yuzu flovoured-olive oil. Isn’t it interesting!

日本の小学生[しょうがくせい]は、学校でお昼[ひる]ご飯[はん]を食べます。学校が栄養[えいよう](= nutrition)のバランスがとれたご飯を作ってくれます。日本語で、給食[きゅうしょく]と言います。日本の給食は食べるだけじゃないんです。とてもいいYouTube ビデオを見つけました。日本の給食を知らない人は、ぜひ見てください。英語の字幕[じまく]付[つ]き(= with English sub-titles)です。 Japanese primary school kids normally eat lunch at school.
