また8月6日です。69年[ねん]前[まえ]の今日[きょう]、8時15分に広島[ひろしま]に原爆[げんばく](= atomic bomb)が落[お]とされ(= to be dropped)ました。忘[わす]れてはなりません。 It's 6 August Again. An atomic bomb was dropped to Hiroshima 69 years ago. Hiroshima and Nagasaki, again

(c) thaths  昨日[きのう]は、広島[ひろしま]原爆[げんばく] (= atomic bomb)記念日[きねんび]でした。67年[ねん]前[まえ]の昨日[きのう]、朝[あさ]8時[じ]15分[ふん]に広島[ひろしま]に原爆[げんばく]が落[お]とされました。昨日[きのう]は平和[へいわ]記念[きねん]公園[こうえん]で式典[しきてん](= ceremony)が行[おこな]われました。   It was Hiroshima Day yesterday (6 August) – an atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima 67 years ago.There was a ceremony held at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

沖縄慰霊の日 Okinawa Irei no hi

今日[きょう]は沖縄[おきなわ]慰霊[いれい]の日[ひ]です。1945年の今日[きょう]、沖縄[おきなわ]で繰[く]り広[ひろ]げられたアメリカ軍[ぐん] (= U.S. Army)との戦争[せんそう] (= war)が終[お]わりました。沖縄[おきなわ]での戦争[せんそう]は、第二次[だいにじ]世界[せかい]大戦[たいせん] (= WWII)中[ちゅう]、唯一[ゆいいつ] (= only)日本[にほん]の国土[こくど] (= national land)で繰[く]り広[ひろ]げられた戦争[せんそう]です。20万人以上[いじょう]の人[ひと]たちが亡[な]くなりました(= dead)。 前日[ぜんじつ]の昨日[きのう]、そして慰霊[いれい]の日[ひ]の今日[きょう]、沖縄[おきなわ]では式典[しきてん] (= ceremony)が行[おこな]われます(= to be held)。朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]のここやここで記事[きじ]が読[よ]めます。写真[しゃしん]もあります。   Irei no Hi (lit. the day to console the dead in Japanese) is June 23, the day systematic fighting of Japanese in Okinawa came to an end in 1945 (according to the description in Wikipedia). 三島 Mishima

 40年前[ねんまえ]の今日[きょう]、東京[とうきょう]で何[なに]があったか、知[し]っていますか。1970年11月25日、有名[ゆうめい]な小説家[しょうせつか] (= a novelist)、三島由紀夫[みしまゆきお]が公衆[こうしゅう]の面前[めんぜん]で(koshu no menzen de means in public)、切腹[せっぷく] (“seppuku” or “hara-kiri”)自殺[じさつ]をしました。日本中[にほんじゅう]の人々[ひとびと]がショックを受[う]けました。日本語[にほんご]が読[よ]める人[ひと]は、このページに簡単[かんたん]な説明[せつめい]があります。   Do you know what happened in Tokyo 40 years ago today? 最古の国産計算機 The oldest calculator

 先日[せんじつ]の朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]に、日本[にほん]で一番[いちばん]古[ふる]い国産[こくさん]計算機[けいさんき]のニュースがありました。日本[にほん]で計算機[けいさんき]が初[はじ]めて作[つく]られたのは、1902年[ねん]だったそうです。発明家[はつめいか] (= inventor)の矢頭[やず]良一[りょういち]さんという人[ひと]が作[つく]ったそうです。朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]のこのページにアクセスすると、その最古[さいこ]の国産[こくさん]計算機[けいさんき]の写真[しゃしん]が見[み]られます。   I read an article about the oldest made-in-Japan calculator in Asahi Shimbun Newspaper. It was 1902 that the inventor named Rhoichi Yazu made the first calculator in Japan. This page of Asahi Shimbun Newspaper shows a photo of that oldest calculator.
