今日は3月3日、ひな祭[まつり]りの日です。女の子のいる家庭[かてい](= household)では、特別[とくべつ]な人形[にんぎょう](おひなさま、と言います)を飾[かざ]り、女の子の幸[しあわ]せ(= happiness)や健康[けんこう](= good health)を祈[いの]ります(= to wish)。

It is dolls festival today (3 March). Japanese households with daughters often put special dolls out wishing their happiness, good health and so on.
