ニュージーランドの花1 Flowers in NZ 1

 気温[きおん] (kion means temperature)が少[すこ]しずつ上[]がってきて、いろいろな花[はな]が咲[]くようになりました。ところで(tokorode means by the way)、写真[しゃしん]の花[はな]、日本語[にほんご]で何[なん]というか知[]っていますか。

 

The weather has got warmer here, in New Zealand and we see all sorts of flowers now.  

写真[しゃしん]の花[はな]は紫陽花[あじさい]といいます。今[いま]、ハミルトンではいろいろなところで咲[]いています。紫陽花[あじさい]は日本[にほん]でも人気[にんき]がある花[はな]です。でも、もちろん、12月[がつ]じゃなくて6月[がつ]ごろに咲[]きますけど。

 紫陽花[あじさい]は日本[にほん]にもたくさんありますが、私[わたし]はNZに来[]て、日本[にほん]では見[]たことがなかった花[はな]をたくさん見[]ました。それは…。
 
The flower in the photo above is, needless to say, hydrangea. You can see beautiful blossom of hydrangea in Hamilton now. Hydrangea is quite popular in Japan as well, but of course you have to be in Japan around June to see the blossom.
 
Hydrangea is quite common to us, Japanese, so nothing is special about it. But I saw quite a few kinds of flowers here, in New Zealand, which I had never seen in Japan. What are they? – I will tell you later!
