Sweets Camellia

Japapese traditional sweets are called “wagashi”. There are many season-related designs of wagashi.

It is now March and the season of camellia’s blossom. I saw a photo of pretty wagashi shaped camellia the other day.

A wagashi shop located in Nara makes special wagashi shaped camellia. This wagashi is called “norikoboshi” in that shop. The shop makes and sells "norikoboshi" only in March every year. This page of Asahi Shimbun Newspaper shows a photo of this pretty wagashi.

last year, my brother’s friend, an exchange student from Japan gave us some Okashi her family made in Japan. (her grandparents own an Okashi shop) and they all look so cute and taste REALLY GOOD!!! I wonder how long it took them to make those delicious okashi…. ^_^
