昨日[きのう]の夕方[ゆうがた]、ワイカト大学[だいがく]に訪問者[ほうもんしゃ](= visitor)がありました。『ダーティー・ポリティックス』の著者[ちょしゃ](= author)、ニッキー・へーガー氏[し]がワイカト大学[だいがく]に来[き]ました。
We had a visitor here yesterday evening. Nicky Hager, author of Dirty Politics, came to the University of Waikato and talked about his book and politics in New Zealand.
ヘーガー氏[し]の本[ほん]に賛同[さんどう]する(= to agree)人[ひと]、反対[はんたい]する(= to disagree)人[ひと]、いろいろな人[ひと]がいます。ですが、ヘーガー氏[し]の本[ほん]には注目[ちゅうもく](= attention)に値[あたい]する(= worthy)内容[ないよう](= contents)があると思[おも]います。みなで話[はな]して、一緒[いっしょ]に考[かんが]えることが大切[たいせつ]です。昨夕[さくゆう]は多[おお]くの人が集[あつ]まり、有意義[ゆういぎ]な(= worthy)時間[じかん]を過[す]ごしたと思[おも]います。
またこのような機会[きかい](= opportunity)がワイカト大学[だいがく]であるといいですね。
Some people like him and some others do not like him. But what he has published is not trivia; it is important for all of us to talk about and think about politics together. Many people turned up and we had a good time yesterday.
I hope we will have this type of opportunity here again!
