My favourite cold food is…
いろいろありますが、日本[にほん]的[てき]な甘[あま]いもので言[い]えば宇治[うじ]金時[きんとき]です。これはカキ氷[ごおり]に抹茶[まっちゃ]味[あじ]のシロップをかけたものです。普通[ふつう]はあんこやバニラ・アイスクリームと一緒[いっしょ]に食[た]べます。宇治[うじ]は、お茶[ちゃ]の産地[さんち]で有名[ゆうめい]なところの名前[なまえ]で、金時[きんとき]というのは豆[まめ]の種類[しゅるい]です(あんこはsweet beans paste)。とってもおいしいですよ!
There is a lot of nice cold food I would like to eat in summer, but when it comes to something Japanesee, one of the most favorite of mine is perhaps ujikintoki. This is a dish of shaved ice with macha (a type of green tea)-flavored syrup. This dish is often served with sweet beans paste and vanilla ice cream. Uji comes from the name of a place famous for green tea and kintoki is a type of beans. Ujikintoki is really yum!
