由紀[ゆき]さおりさんを知[し]っていますか。Do you know Saori Yuki?
由紀[ゆき]さおりさんは日本人[にほんじん]歌手[かしゅ] (= singer)です。現在[げんざい]、63才。最近[さいきん]、アメリカのジャズ･グループ、ピンク･マルティーニとCDを作[つく]りました。ピンク･マルティーニのリーダーのトーマスさんが、たまたま(= by chance)、ポートランドにある中古[ちゅうこ] (= second-hand)レコード屋[や]で、由紀[ゆき]さんのレコードを買[か]い、それを聞[き]いて感動[かんどう]した(= to be impressed)そうです。
CDには、由紀[ゆき]さんの1969年のヒット曲[きょく] (= songs)が中心[ちゅうしん]に(= mainly)入[はい]っています。歌[うた]を全部[ぜんぶ]日本語[にほんご]で録音[ろくおん]した(= to record)のに、ヨーロッパやアメリカでとても人気[にんき]が出[で]ているそうです。先日[せんじつ]、ニューヨークでコンサートをして、大成功[だいせいこう] (= big success)だったそうです。興味[きょうみ]がある人は、是非[ぜひ] iTune で買[か]って聞[き]いてみてください。

Saori Yuki is a Japanese singer. She is now 63 years old. She recently released a new CD collaborating with an American Jazz group named Pink Martini. You might wonder how they met – Thomas, the leader of Pink Martini, happened to find a record of Ms Yuki in a second-hand record shop in Portland, U.S. and really liked it.
The CD produced by Ms Yuki and Pink Martini contains all sorts of Japanese songs sung in Japanese; they are mainly hit songs Ms Yuki originally released in 1969. Although all songs of the CD are in Japanese, they are well-received in Europe and U.S. They held a concert in New York the other day and it became big success!
