今、日本は夏[なつ]! 夏はお祭[まつり](= festival)の季節[きせつ]です。いろいろな有名[ゆうめい]なお祭がありますが、中でも特[とく]に(= especially)有名[ゆうめい]なのが京都[きょうと]の祇園祭[ぎおんまつり]です。
祇園祭は、京都の八坂[やさか]神社[じんじゃ]のお祭[まつり]です。1000年以上の歴史[れきし]があります。毎年[まいとし]、7月に1か月にわたって、いろいろなお祭の行事[ぎょうじ](= events)があります。以下[いか]の(= the following)動画[どうが](= motion picture)はこの週末[しゅうまつ]に行われた山鉾[やまほこ]巡行[じゅんぎょう]です。すごいですね!
It is summer in Japan and there are so many festivals happening across the country. Among them, Gionmatsuri is particulatly famous.
Gionmatsuri is a festival held in Kyoto by Yasaka Shinto Shrine. It has over 1,000 year history! There are so many Gionmatsuri-events organised throughout July every year. The following motion picture shows one of the highlights called Yamahoko Jungyo held last weekend. Isn't it amazing!
