今日は5月5日、日本では子どもの日です。祝日[しゅくじつ](= statutory holiday)です。男の子のいる家庭[かてい](= household)では、兜[かぶと](= samurai helmet)や鯉[こい]のぼり(= koi carp banner)を飾[かざ]ります。そして、男の子の健康[けんこう]や幸[しあわ]せなどを祈[いの]ります。写真[しゃしん]は鯉のぼりです。 It is the 5th of May, Children’s Day in Japan and it’s a statutory holiday today. The households with boys put kabuto (= samurai helmet) and/or koinobori (= koi carp shaped banner) out and wish their boys’ health, happiness and prosperity. The photo shows the banners.
