ベルリン国際映画祭 Berlin International Film Festival

先日[せんじつ]、ベルリン国際[こくさい]映画祭[えいがさい]がドイツ、ベルリン市[し]でありました。日本[にほん]の映画[えいが]『キャタピラ』も上映[じょうえい]され(joei suru is to play (a film)ました。その映画[えいが]の主演[しゅえん]女優[じょゆう]の寺島[てらしま]しのぶさんが、主演女優賞[しゅえんじょゆうしょう] (= Best Actress Award)をとりました。とても嬉[うれ]しいニュースです!! The 60th Berlin International Film Festival was held lately. A Japanese film entitled “Caterpillar” directed by Koji Wakamatsu entered to the competition.  Shinobu Tarashima, who played the main role in “Caterpillar” won Best Actress Award. What a wonderful news it is!

桜便り Cherry blossom

まだ2月です。日本[にほん]は寒[さむ]いです。でも、昨日[きのう]の朝日[あさひ]新聞[しんぶん]で、静岡県[しずおかけん]の桜[さくら]のレポートを読[よ]みました。朝日新聞[あさひしんぶん]のこのページにアクセスすると、美[うつく]しい桜[さくら]の写真[しゃしん]が見[み]られます。 It is still February, but I read a report showing beautiful cherry blossom on yesterday’s Asahi Shimbun Newspaper. 海苔の養殖 Nori farming

日本人[にほんじん]は海苔[のり] (= nori, a type of seaweed)が大好きです。そして、日本[にほん]のあちこちで海苔[のり]の養殖[ようしょく] (yoshoku means farming)が行[おこな]われています。 Japanese people like to eat nori, a kind of seaweed and there are nori-farming organised at various areas in Japan.

高いイチゴ Expensive strawberries

安いもの Cheap stuff

日本人[にほんじん]は高[たか]いブランド品[ひん]も好[す]きですが、安[やす]いものも好[す]きです。例[たと]えば、日本[にほん]には100円[えん]ショップ(NZの1,2,3ドルショップと同[おな]じような店[みせ])がとてもたくさんあります。しかし…。 Japanese people have a weakness of big name brands. The goods of those brands are really expensive. But Japanese people also really like cheap stuff. For example, there are so many so-called “100yen shop” in Japan (equivalent to 1, 2, 3 dollar shops here).
