ワイカト大学[だいがく]があるハミルトンは、街[まち]ですけど、いたるところで(= everywhere) 自然[しぜん](= nature)が楽[たの]しめます。今[いま]は夏[なつ]の始[はじ]まりで、あちこちで美[うつく]しい若葉[わかば](= young leaves)が見[み]られます。そして、今朝[けさ]、その若葉[わかば]の中[なか]で際[きわ]立[だ]っていた(= standing out)のは。。。 Hamilton is a city but you can enjoy beautiful nature here. Now it is almost summer here and you can see beautiful young green everywhere. And… this morning there was something standing out in the nature, which was… かわせみです! King fisher!

春遠からじ4 Spring is coming…4
鳥[とり]は花[はな]が咲[さ]いて、蜜[みつ](= nectar)を集[あつ]めるのに忙[いそが]しそうです。 写真[しゃしん]の鳥[とり]は、トゥイというニュージーランドの鳥[とり]です。胸[むね](= chest)についた丸[まる]くて白[しろ]いポンポン(= pompon)がかわいいでしょう? Birds seem busy these days for gathering nectar from flowers. Can you see a black bird in the photo? That is Tui, a New Zealand native bird. Don’t you think that white pompon on its chest is cute?

昨日[きのう]『月刊[げっかん]ニュージー』について紹介[しょうかい]しましたが、この雑誌[ざっし]の8月[がつ]号[ごう]にはハミルトンの特集[とくしゅう]記事[きじ]がありました! ハミルトンは人口[じんこう]13万人[まんにん]ほどの小さな街[まち]ですが、なかなかいいところです。言[い]うまでもなく、1つはワイカト大学[だいがく]があることですが(^^;)、特[とく]に最近[さいきん]は美味[おい]しいコーヒーが飲[の]めるカフェがたくさんあります。コーヒーだけでなく、マフィンやコーヒー、サンドイッチやパスタなどの料理[りょうり]も美味[おい]しいですよ。一度[いちど]、是非[ぜひ]来[き]てみてください。 I wrote about Gekkan NZ, a monthly published Japanese magazine, yesterday.
