今日は3月3日、ひな祭[まつり]りの日です。女の子のいる家庭[かてい](= household)では、特別[とくべつ]な人形[にんぎょう](おひなさま、と言います)を飾[かざ]り、女の子の幸[しあわ]せ(= happiness)や健康[けんこう](= good health)を祈[いの]ります(= to wish)。 下の写真[しゃしん]は、おひなさまです。ジャパン・デーというイベントでとりました。きれいでしょう! It is dolls festival today (3 March). Japanese households with daughters often put special dolls out wishing their happiness, good health and so on. The following photo shows a beautiful doll set. I took this photo at Japan Day. Isn't it beautiful!

先日、とてもおいしいすしを食べました。ハミルトンで買ったんですよ。いろいろな魚[さかな]のすしがあって嬉[うれ]しかったです。ニュージーランドにはTakeawayのすし屋[や]がたくさんありますが、魚[さかな]の種類[しゅるい](= types; kinds)がとても少[すく]ないんです。下の写真[しゃしん]の焼[や]いた(= grilled)魚[さかな]は、タラキヒという魚[さかな]です。ニュージーランドで食べられる鯛[たい](= snapper)の一種[いっしゅ](= a type of)です。タラキヒのすしを見たのはこれが初[はじ]めてです(とってもおいしかったです!)。 I ate delicious sushi the other day; I bought them in Hamilton.
