日本[にほん]では、今日[きょう]は節分[せつぶん]です。明日[あす]が陰暦[いんれき](= the lunar calendar)の立春[りっしゅん](= the first day of Spring)。節分[せつぶん]は、毎年[まいとし]、立春[りっしゅん]の前日[ぜんじつ]です。 節分[せつぶん]の日[ひ]には、豆[まめ]まき(= throwing beans)をします。文字[もじ]通[どおり]り(= literally)、豆[まめ]をまくのです。ふつうの家[いえ]でもするし、多[おお]くの神社[じんじゃ](= Shinto shrine)でもします。神社[じんじゃ]ではいろいろな人[ひと]が招[まね]かれて(= invited)、豆[まめ]まきをすることが多[おお]いです。下[した]の写真[しゃしん]は、京都[きょうと]の神社[じんじゃ]ですから、京都[きょうと]の舞妓[まいこ]さんたちでしょうか。 そして、家[いえ]では、豆[まめ]を年[とし]の数[かず]食[た]べると、悪[わる]いことがなくなると言[い]われています。若[わか]い人[ひと]はいいですけど、お年[とし]より(= elderly)は食[た]べるのが大変[たいへん]ですね!
